Save Darfur Coalition unites 180 organizations

The Save Darfur Coalition, founded in 2004, is an alliance of over 180 faith-based, advocacy and humanitarian organizations that are united together to help the people of Darfur, Africa. The Coalition’s member organizations represent 130 million people of all ages, races, religions and political affiliations.
Save Darfur uses media outreach, public education, coalition building and grassroots mobilization to pressure policymakers and decision-makers in the USA and around the world to help the people of Darfur, and to put an end to the genocide.
The Million Voices for Darfur campaign in 2006 delivered one million hand-written and electronic postcards to President Bush, demanding that he support a stronger multinational peacekeeping force to protect the people of Darfur.
A 2006 ‘Save Darfur: Rally to Stop Genocide‘ event on the National Mall in Washington, DC was attended by more than 50,000 people … including speakers George Clooney, Senator Barack Obama and Nobel Prize Laureate Elie Wiesel.
American Middle Schools and High Schools have participated in the ‘Dollars For Darfur’ campaign to end the humanitarian crisis. Over 2,000 schools have raised money through a variety of fundraising campaigns.
The ‘Divest for Darfur Campaign’ encourages and promotes divestment to put financial pressure on the government of Sudan to change its policies and bring peace to the region.
Save Darfur does not accept clothing and food donations, but does accept monetary donations.
