Sharing Resources Worldwide recycles medical goods

Sharing Resources Worldwide (SRM), based in Madison, Wisconsin, is a nonprofit organization, founded in 2002 by two registered nurses, Lisa Fernandez and Mary Dowling, to make surplus and recycled medical supplies, equipment and related medical services available to needy populations around the world.
Since 2002, SRM has provided over $11,200,000 in total value to their missions and shipments, including:
* 15 medical and surgical missions and eye glass missions.
* 6 wheelchair missions.
* 4,484 people were screened for eye problems.
* 3,551 people received eye glasses.
* 1,008 children were screened on medical missions.
* 555 children have received surgical treatment.
* Over 1,000 wheelchairs have been distributed in Nicaragua.
Medical and eyeglass missions have been sent to Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala, Peru and Guinea.
Other countries receiving SRM goods and services have included Philippines, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Haiti, Mexico, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Iran, Nepal, Uganda, Bolivia, Panama, Kenya, Russia and Israel.
Areas of the USA, including New Orleans and the South Dakota Indian Reservation also have received assistance from SRM.
Current items on SRM’s wish list include hospital equipment and supplies, crutches, walkers, canes, school supplies, backpacks, sheets, blankets, basic tools, and sewing machines and supplies.
