RESULTS working to end hunger & poverty
By David on Apr 26, 2008 in World
RESULTS is a nonprofit (Washington, DC), founded in 1980, that works with governments and individuals to end hunger and the worst aspects of poverty. RESULTS has over 800 grassroots volunteers in about 100 communities in the USA, and has international offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the United Kingdom.
International members lobby their representatives in such organizations as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
The Microcredit Summit Campaign is a project of the RESULTS Educational Fund and works to assist 175 million of the world’s poorest families, especially the women of those families. The goal is to help 100-million families raise their income above the $1 (USD) per day income level by the year 2015.
RESULTS trains, coaches and supports individuals to voice their opinions to elected representatives and work with others to build public support for ending hunger.
Information on donating, starting or joining a local chapter, internships, jobs and program information is available on their website.
