Prizm Project - human rights education for young women
By David on Mar 29, 2008 in World
The Prizm Project (New Jersey) is a nonprofit that educates young women about human rights and gives them the resources they need to create social change. Retreats and other free programs, designed especially for young women ages 14 to 18, are held in the USA and around the world.
Goals of the Prizm Project include creating a safe space for women to discuss important issues, making human rights education accessible to women of all economic, ethnic and social backgrounds, promote awareness of human rights issues, and to cultivate women’s leadership by encouraging women to take social action.
Retreats take place annually in New Jersey (USA) and are in the works for South Africa and Bulgaria.
Retreat participants are exposed to speakers, films, and discussions on human rights and social justice issues, and learn skills such as grant writing, working with the media, and organizing social action projects.
Information on donating or setting up local programs are available on their website.
