Help Darfur Now (HDN) was founded by 3 New Jersey high school students in 2005 as a nonprofit organization to raise awareness and provide financial aid to the victims of the genocide in Darfur, Sudan. HDN has grown to more than 250 nationwide chapters with thousands of participating students.
HDN has raised over $400,000 for organizations such as Doctors Without Borders, the International Rescue Committee, the UNHCR and other relief organizations that supply food, medicine and other aid to the victims of the genocide in Darfur.
HDN also contributes to the Save Darfur Coalition to raise awareness of the crisis in Africa.
All funds are specifically earmarked for Darfur.
Millions of people in the Darfur region have been killed or have been displaced. Lack of food, shelter, safety, sanitation, jobs and medicare care have created a humanitarian crisis in the refugee camps and other areas around Sudan.
Information on how to make donations, or purchase t-shirts, pins and other merchandise in support of HDN, as well as news on local chapters is available on their website.
