Educational Praxis provides USA connection to India

Educational Praxis (EP) is a nonprofit that brings people of diverse communities together through direct educational activities to develop solidarity with learning-teaching centers around the world. EP (Putney, Vermont) works with local universities, schools and nonprofits in sponsoring lectures, training workshops, cultural events and teacher enrichment seminars. Topics addresses include critical reflection, economic equity and security, ecological consciousness, cultural groundings and creative action to address the schisms of race, class, caste and gender.
The main program in Bangalore, Indiais located at The Bapagrama Educational Center, established in 1949, that serves about 300 students from the lower castes in nearby villages.
Programs planned or underway at EP’s Bapagrama Educational Center include a Language Lab (English and Hindi), an upgraded Health Center, Vocational Training Centers (expanding the weaving program currently in operation), and an Endowment Fund to provide long term funding of the programs.
The Bapagrama Educational Center in Bangalore, India offers study abroad programs through Keene State University in New Hampshire. Topics include the study of Kannada language, history, sociology, economy, cultural studies, development studies, health system studies, Indian educational practices, and study of arts and architecture. High School, college and graduate students can come for study of Political Economy and Development issues, as well as Independent Study. Credits may be arranged with their own institutions.
