Enough Project working to stop genocide in Africa
By David on Dec 31, 2007 in Africa
Enough Project (Washington, DC) was founded in 2007 with the goal of ending genocide and crimes against humanity, with a current focus on the African areas of the Darfur region of Sudan, Chad, the Congo and Northern Uganda.
ENOUGH uses in-depth knowledge to create viable policy recommendations and engage activists to apply pressure on the perpetrators and governments to stop genocide and crimes against humanity, and to spotlight policies that are working. ENOUGH produces regular strategy papers and briefings about what is happening in Africa, and what concerned individuals, activists and policy makers can do to end genocide and crimes against humanity.
Stopping mass atrocities is pursued through :
1) Promote Peace - ENOUGH recommends concrete solutions for resolving conflicts, and urges the USA and the international community to make substantial investments in these solutions. Building peace costs less - in lives and dollars - than resolving a humanitarian crisis.
2) Provide Protection - ENOUGH identifies and pushes for actions to protect citizens.
3) Punishment for Perpetrators - Through the courts, sanctions and public pressure, ENOUGH will work to make sure the perpetrators of these horrible crimes are held accountable, both during and after the atrocities.
