Cross-Cultural Solutions (CCS), founded in 1995, is a nonprofit that provides international volunteer opportunities for more than 4,000 volunteers each year. CSS (New Rochelle, New York head office) is in a Special Consultative Status with the United Nations and operates in 12 countries - Costa Rica, Brazil, China, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Morocco, Peru, Russia, South Africa, Tanzania and Thailand.
Volunteer opportunities, working side by side with local people, have start dates spread throughout the year and last from 1 to 12 weeks.
Cross Cultural volunteers work on projects such as caring for infants, teaching children, teaching English, assisting teachers, assisting local health professionals, working with people affected by HIV/AIDS, caring for the elderly and disabled, assisting teachers of Special Education, working towards women’s empowerment, and sharing your professional skills.
CCS is also a registered charity and accepts donations on their website, including special funds for Scholarships and a Diversity Fund to help those who would otherwise not be able to volunteer.
Volunteers for CSS come from American, Canada, Australia, UK, Japan and other countries and range from teenagers to retired people.
Many students receive college credit as an internship, field research or an independent study program abroad.
