Kondwa Children’s Foundation (Cincinnati, Ohio) seeks to bring happiness and hope to orphaned children and communities impoverished by HIV/AIDS in Zambia, Africa. Almost 20% of the children in Zambia are now orphans.
Goals of the Kondwa Children’s Foundation include:
- Education, medical care, counseling, food, shelter, clothing and technology.
- Facilitating long-term sustainable income for the community.
- Educating non-Zambians about the situation in Zambia.
Kondwa Day Center provides pre-school education, two meals per day and other services to 90 pre-schoolers. 250 children have graduated from pre-school, but many of them lose the stability as they are dispersed to community elementary schools upon graduation.
So Kondwa Children’s Foundation is raising funds to build a primary school housing grades 1-7 - including classrooms, showers, toilets, kitchen, storeroom, office and a security guard’s house. So far about $22,000 of the estimated $150,000 has been raised.
