Hamburgers are often disputed as having come from Hamburg, Germany although several Americans in the 1800’s claim they invented the hamburger. Apple pies probably originated in Europe, but are closely connected to American culture, so they are included in the list of popular “American” food. Pizza in the USA has Italian roots, but is generally considered to be cooked differently than Italian pizza.
