Partners in Malawi charity providing medical aid

Partners in Malawi, based in Southern California, is a nonprofit working to bring medical relief to the over 1-million HIV/AIDS infected people in Malawi (Africa). It is estimated that in urban areas of Malawi, approximately 25% of the adults are HIV+.

Dr. Perry Jansen (Penn State College of Medicine, UCLA) made his first medical relief trip to Malawi in 1999.  Dr. Perry and his family then moved to Malawi to run a community clinic for the African Bible College and also established the charity, Partners in Malawi, to provide financial aid for health care in Malawi.

Some of the ongoing efforts include:

  • In-clinic care for HIV/AIDS patients.
  • Home-based care using skilled nurses and volunteers.
  • Provide pastoral care to all patients.
  • Providing AIDS education.
  • Conducting free medical testings.

Statistics show that there is one doctor for every 54,000 Malawians.
