Afghans for Afghans sends hand-made comfort to Afghanistan

Afghans for Afghans is a San Francisco-based group that sends hand-knitted and crocheted blankets, sweaters, vests, mittens and socks to the people of Afghanistan. The grassroots effort is inspired by similar work by Red Cross volunteers during World Wars I and II to support soldiers and refugees worldwide.

Their website has info on ‘what is needed’, as well as suggestions for colors, sizes, materials (100% wool is suggested to provide maximum utility in Afghanistan’s harsh winters.).

You can use suggested online patterns from their website, or you can use your own patterns.

No used items can be accepted because of customs complications.

Finished clothing can be mailed to their San Francisco collection center.

Afghans for Afghans is not a registered charity, but tax deductible donations can be made to Afghans for Afghans through their fiscal partner, the Agape Foundation.
