Global Action For Children Charity supports orphans worldwide

Global Action For Children (GAC) is a nonprofit formed in 2003 to raise money and support for orphans and other vulnerable children in poor countries around the world. Angelina Jolie is the Honorary Chairperson of GAC, and helps in lobbying governments in wealthier countries around the world (including the USA) to provide aid to needy children in underdeveloped countries. Her Jolie-Pitt Foundation has also donated $1-million to GAC.

Local college chapters have been formed at the University of Arizona, Dartmouth, Loyola University Chicago, Cornell, College of St. Scholastica, University of Michigan, Johns Hopkins, Yale, Columbia, Georgetown and Penn State University for GAC’s “Student Campaign for Child Survival”.

GAC’s website also contains info for community groups and churches to support the needs of children worldwide.

GAC builds support for issues affecting children, including HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis, early childhood development, and child survival. Areas assisted include Malawi, Kenya, India, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

Efforts are undertaken in:

  • Policy Analysis and Advocacy - persuading governments to allocate resources for the vulnerable children.
  • Media Outreach and Public Education
  • Coalition Building - uniting support around the world for aid to the children
  • Local Mobilization - inspiring local groups to act for children’s rights.

GAC is based in Washington, DC, USA.
