“American Idol Gives Back” Donations for Africa, World

The “American Idol Gives Back” program in 2007 has raised over $75-million for American and world aid (mostly to Africa).
Ever wonder which organizations receive these funds?
Charity Projects Entertainment Fund is the nonprofit that is administering the funds on behalf of American Idol and its donors. Details on the American Idol Gives Back program are available on their website.
For African-World aid, the donations will be used by:
- U.S. Fund For UNICEF - works in over 150 countries.
- Save the Children - over 40% of their efforts are focused on Africa.
- The Global Fund - fights AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other diseases in over 136 countries around the world.
- Malaria No More - works thru local and international organizations.
- Nothing But Nets - Worldwide organization fighting malaria with the support of the United Nations and many other organizations.
For American aid, American Idol will donate funds to:
- Save the Children
- America’s Second Harvest - The Nation’s Food Bank Network
- Boys and Girls Clubs of America
- The Children’s Health Fund - co-founded by Paul Simon
