The USA has also received foreign aid and assistance from countries around the world. In response to the 2005 damages from Hurricane Katrina  in America (New Orleans, Louisiana and Mississippi), about 854-million dollars in cash and oil were pledged to the U.S. Government by more than 150 countries around the world.

Islamic Relief USA, a California based charity, works to alleviate suffering, hunger, illiteracy, diseases worldwide without regard to race, color or creed.
Some of the projects have included:

Development projects - water sanitation, education, vocational training, health, nutrition.
Emergency relief aid - Palestine, Afghanistan, Bosnia, Chechnya, Kosovo, etc.
Orphans Welfare Project
U.S. domestic aid, including helping Hurricane Katrina victims.

Operation Smile, based in Norfolk, Virginia, USA, has provided medical help to over 100,000 children since sending its first mission to the Phillipines in 1982. Currently over 25 countries around the world receive support from Operation Smile for cleft lips, cleft palates and facial deformities.
